    Given our criticality to the functioning of the global financial flows, SWIFT has a strong focus in risk management and internal control. Internal Audit at SWIFT plays a key role in the assessment of those risks and the effectiveness of the mitigating controls. We provide the Board of Directors and Management with independent assessments of the SWIFT’s risk and control environment.


    The Internal Audit processes help ensuring SWIFT’s compliance with laws, regulations, requirements of regulatory overseers, corporate policies. Moreover, it also assists SWIFT in the achievement of the strategic objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the company’s operations, and in particular its risk management, control, and governance processes.
    The Internal Audit function has teams in Belgium, the US and Malaysia interacting together on audit engagements.



    As a member of our team you will be following today’s best practices in Internal Audit. Our team members make recommendations contributing to the continued achievement of SWIFT's strategic goals and objectives. As part of our US-based Audit Team, you will lead audit teams to define the scoping, fieldwork, issues clearance, reporting, and follow-up of assigned audits. Auditors are expected to contribute to the department's continuous improvement program.


    In addition the candidate will be included on a specialized team performing assurance work with the US Government.  The ability to obtain a US Government Clearance is required.  Responsibilities with this team will require travel to Washington DC approximately 4 days a month.


    Your responsibilities will be to:

    • Execute assigned share of the annual audit plan. This includes leading audit engagements including coaching junior staff as appropriate and serving as a staff auditor to execute work assigned by more senior auditors and perform fieldwork. This should be done independently with little supervision, quality, and in line with internal standards.
    • Analyze and validate audit findings with auditees, suggesting recommendations for improvements and preparing draft reports for review by more senior auditors or audit Manager.
    • Participate in other tasks, including review of supporting evidence once management has requested closure of recommendation.
    • Upon hiring, the candidate must be willing to apply for a Clearance with US Government.  Continuing employment will rely on the candidate's ability to complete the clearance process.
    A small amount of internation travel is foreseen for this position.


    • University degree, Professional certification (CISA, CISSP, or equivalent) or post university degree.
    • A current Top Secret Clearance preferred. The ability to obtain a US Government Clearance is required.
    • At least 8 years of relevant experience, preferably in Systems Auditing or IT Security.
    • IT technical background with in depth knowledge of at least three of the following areas: cyber security; risk management, project management, SAP, security architecture/design, Unix, Network security, PKI.
